You can write a story by simply using a device, but you need to do research and live with a product to write a review.

My name is Brad Bennett, a tech journalist with six years of experience reviewing and writing about products for MobileSyrup.com, Canada’s most prominent tech news publication. I’m also an excellent product photographer/videographer and on-air personality for videos and podcasts. To top it off, I’ve been told I’m “fun to be around,” and have maintained multi-year relationships with many top brands like Apple, Google, and BMW.

As an expert reviewer, I focus on understanding a product’s target audience, the current devices they use, and what competitors offer. I also think a reviewer can learn a lot from online communities, so I focus on sifting through comments and forums to grasp what buyers are looking for, and how real people might use the device I’m testing. The best reviewer is an informed one, and to do that, I also keep up to date on news regarding the various product categories I cover.

An expert review should also be entertaining and thought-provoking. I believe in weaving small anecdotes and macro-level analysis into my storytelling, seamlessly integrating a product’s strengths and weaknesses and its place in the market.

I thrive in fast-paced environments, and I pride myself on being able to find stories where others think there aren’t any. My coverage style and ‘make tech fun’ attitude help audiences decide what to buy, and how to use it. All while being understandable and jargon-free.
